Radar gap-filling

Nordic summers bring long days but also plenty of clouds. When clouds block the optical satellite view, Freyr uses radar data from the Sentinel-1 mission to estimate field conditions. Radar can see through clouds, though the readings are less detailed than clear-sky optical imagery.

When you see a “radar estimate” badge on a reading, it means Freyr used this gap-filling technique. The estimate is reliable for detecting major changes but may not catch subtle variations the way a clear optical image would.
